Imagnes De Wendy Calio
Between 1942 and 1944, José Clemente Orozco painted a series of murals in the Hospital de Jesus, Mexico City, staging the encounter between the English and Mexica. The hospital, founded by Hernán Cortés in 1524, is the first built in America. Orozco
borrowed from the Aztec codices of the XV and XVI graphical display speaks to the figures. This sort of clouds, balloons or "sandwiches" if we think of the comic, symbolizing the translation, the border conflict between different languages, between different systems and needs while creating opportunities for communication. I find it very suggestive graphical interpretation of the painter.
